South America's first eco charger
INAUGURATION OF THE FIRST ECO ELECTRIC CHARGER IN SOUTH AMERICA
With the aim of promoting and fostering the use of clean, non-polluting energy, SQM and Copec inaugurated the first solar-powered electric eco-charging station in South America in the Antofagasta Region. Located at the Salar del Carmen site, where SQM's Litio final product plants are located, the initiative seeks to contribute to sustainable development, promote electromobility, and contribute to environmental protection by reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and using solar energy.
This sustainable energy system does not require connection to the national electricity grid (Off Grid), as it operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is powered 100% by solar energy, thanks to its 46 panels located at a 15° angle in the 96 square meters designated for its operation. The system absorbs the energy generated by the sun, backing it up in the lithium batteries installed in the system, and is finally distributed through an electric charger equipped with an intelligent controller, one of the many advantages of using solar energy correctly and responsibly.
